Abstract

Methods are provided for attaching a formwork panel to a formwork retainer. Such methods comprise providing a formwork panel comprising an inside surface, an outside surface, and an aperture extending through the panel from an inside of the inside surface to an outside of the outside surface; providing a formwork retainer comprising a panel-engaging feature; projecting the panel-engaging feature through the aperture so that at least a first portion of the panel-engaging feature is located on the outside of the outside surface and at least a second portion of the panel- engaging feature is located on the inside of the inside surface; and using the panel- engaging feature to attach the formwork retainer to the panel. Corresponding apparatus for effecting such methods are also provided.

A method for covering at least a portion of an existing structure with a repair structure, the method comprising:attaching a fonnwork retainer to the existing structure such that the formwork retainer extends away from the existing structure;attaching a formwork panel to the fonnwork retainer such that the panel is spaced apart from the existing structure to provide a space therebetween;and introducing a curable material to the space between the panel and the existing structure, the panel acting as at least a portion of a fonnwork for containing the curable material until the curable material cures to provide a repair structure;wherein: CA 02853735 2014-06-04 -75 the panel comprises an inside surface facing towards the existing structure, an outside surface facing away from the existing structure, and an aperture extending through the panel from an inside of the inside surface to an outside of the outside surface;the formwork retainer comprises a panel-engaging feature;and coupling the formwork panel to the formwork retainer comprises: projecting the panel-engaging feature through the aperture so that at least a first portion of the panel-engaging feature is located on the outside of the outside surface and at least a second portion of the panel-engaging feature is located on the inside of the inside surface;and using the panel-engaging feature to attach the formwork retainer to the panel.

An apparatus for covering at least a portion of an existing structure with a repair structure, the apparatus comprising:a formwork retainer attached to the existing structure, the formwork retainer extending away from the existing structure;and a formwork panel coupled to the formwork retainer such that the panel is spaced apart from the existing structure to provide a space therebetween for receiving curable material;wherein: the panel comprises an inside surface facing toward the inside existing structure, an outside surface facing away from the existing structure, and an aperture extending through the panel from an inside of the inside surface to an outside of the outside surface;the formwork retainer comprises a panel-engaging feature;panel-engaging feature projects through the aperture so that at least a first portion of the panel-engaging feature is located on the outside of the outside surface and at least a second portion of the panel-engaging feature is located on the inside of the inside surface;and CA 02853735 2014-06-04 -79the panel-engaging feature attaches the formwork retainer to the panel.

A formwork retainer for holding a formwork panel at a spaced apart location from an existing structure, the formwork retainer comprising:a fastener-receiving feature for receiving a fastener to secure the formwork retainer to the existing structure;and a form-engaging feature, extending outwardly from the fastener-receiving feature, for securing the formwork retainer to the formwork panel;wherein the form-engaging feature comprises: a first shoulder shaped to abut an inside surface of the formwork panel facing towards the existing structure;and a key-engaging portion shaped to: extend through an aperture in the formwork panel;extend beyond an outside surface of the formwork panel facing away from the existing structure;and engage a key to hold the formwork panel between the key and the shoulder.
