Abstract

A method is provided of conducting a financial transaction with reduced likelihood of fraud. A financial transaction is entered into using a first party's financial transaction instrument to transfer funds. The first party's financial transaction instrument information is sent externally to a mobile device. The financial transaction instrument information is sent from the mobile device to a payment system.

    The system of any one of claims 1-4, wherein the payment service is further configured to receive a location ofthe first qualifying parties, and to open a tab relating the first qualified party with the second qualifying party when the first qualified party is within a geographic proximity to the second qualifying party.     A computer-implemented method comprising:providing by a payment service server to a second qualified party a list of first qualified parties that are qualified to transact business with the payment service and stored in a database accessible to the payment service server, the list further limited to first qualified parties having an open tab relating the first qualifying party with the second qualified party;receiving by the payment service server a selection of a selected first qualified party in the list by the second qualified party, wherein the selected first qualified party becomes the first qualifying party, wherein the selected first qualified party can be selected by the second qualified party at any geographic location of a mobile device of the first qualifying party;and a payment service transaction processor configured to execute a transaction between the selected first qualified party and the second qualified party;wherein the payment service transaction processor is further configured to execute the transaction only when the mobile device of the first qualifying party is within a defined geographic area.

    An electronic device-readable medium comprising:electronic device-readable instructions stored on the electronic device-readable medium, the instructions effective to cause a processor to perform a method, the method recited in any one of claims 9-13.

    A method of paying a second party, comprising:using a processor to provide to a first party names of one or more qualified second parties through a payment service, the payment service being in communication with the first party's financial account that is a separate entity from the payment service, the payment service including a transaction database, the qualified second parties defined as second parties qualified to transact business with the payment service, and second parties that if they are not qualified to do business, become qualified to transact business prior to a transfer of funds from the payment service;using a first party's mobile device to enter a first party's financial account information to the payment service in order for the first party to conduct transactions using the payment service;viewing by the qualified second party a list of first parties with open tabs, each open tab being a relationship between the first party, the payment service and a second party qualified to transact business with the payment service;allowing a list of first parties with open tabs to be selected by the qualified second party at any geographic location of the first party's mobile device, the qualified second party being only able to charge a first party's financial account when the first party's mobile device is within a defined geographic area, the tab being a relationship among the first party, the WSLEGAU074889100013\13054688v2. CA 2841267 2017-04-13 payment service and the qualified second party, wherein the qualified second party can engage in a financial transaction when the first party is within the defined geographic area;using the first party's mobile device to send personal identifying information to the payment service to enter into a transaction with the second party;using the tab to enter into the transaction between the first and second party with the payment service transferring funds from the first party to the second party;sending information regarding the transaction from the payment service to the first party's mobile device;and in response to the second party determining if a fraudulent attempt or fraudulent use of the first party's funds is committed, the transaction database being updated for each completed transaction between the first and second parties.
