Methods and systems for computer aided event and venue setup and modeling and interactive maps

Abstract

Described are systems and methods for designing certain aspects of an event venue and for communicating information regarding the event and the event venue to others. Certain embodiments provide a dynamic seat map via which an operator can assign certain characteristics to specific seats and/or seating sections. Certain embodiments generate interactive maps for users, via which information from a plurality of sources may be integrated and visually displayed. The user may specify certain criteria, and the interactive map may identify to the user seats and/or sections that match such criteria. Certain embodiments provide an interactive seat map via which users can select seats and share information.

  1. 1
What is claimed is:1. A system for dynamically modifying an interactive seat map displayed at a user terminal, the system comprising: computing hardware;and a non-transitory medium storing instructions that when executed by the computing hardware, cause the computing hardware to perform operations comprising: detecting an electronic invitation from a first user device, the electronic invitation corresponding to a request to attend an event;accessing the interactive seat map of a venue hosting the event, the interactive seat map including a definition of a plurality of venue sections and/or venue seats within the plurality of venue sections;accessing pricing information associated with the plurality of venue sections and/or venue seats for the event;presenting the interactive seat map on the user terminal, the user terminal including a display and being associated with a second user;identifying an account identifier for a social network for the second user;establishing, via a data interface, a connection with the social network using the account identifier;using the established connection, receiving from the social network, via the data interface, relationship information with respect to the second user, wherein the relationship information includes identifications of one or more friends of the second user in the social network;continuously analyzing the relationship information to detect an event assignment condition where a friend from amongst the one or more friends of the second user is attending the event;determining that a subset of the one or more friends of the second user is attending the event if each friend of the subset is associated with seat information for the event, the seat information including at least a first seat for a first friend of the subset of the one or more friends;calculating first coordinates of a first seat map and second coordinates of the interactive seat map, the first seat map including an identifier of the first friend at the first seat;calculating a scaling factor which is proportional to a difference between a size of the first seat map and a size of the interactive seat map, the scaling factor being dependent, at least in part, upon a size of the display of the user terminal;scaling the first coordinates based on the scaling factor;-84CA 2802686 2018-09-17 automatically mapping the first seat map, by one or more processors, onto the interactive seat map, thereby displaying a modified interactive seat map, so that an entirety of the modified interactive seat map is viewable on the display of the user terminal by the second user, the modified interactive seat map including the identifier of the first friend at the first seat;automatically updating the modified interactive seat map, by the one or more processors, to display an identifier of a second friend at a second seat when the event assignment condition indicates the second friend is attending the event, the second friend not being originally included in the subset of the one or more friends of the second user;detecting a user interaction with the modified interactive seat map, the user interaction selecting at least one seat;detecting a corresponding user ticket purchase request for the at least one seat selected via the user interaction with the modified interactive seat map;and subsequent to each of the displaying of the modified interactive seat map, the detection of user interaction and the detection of the corresponding ticket purchase request, receiving and processing the ticket purchase request for the at least one seat selected by the second user via the user interaction with the modified interactive seat map.
  2. 2
The system of claim I, wherein the interactive seat map is configured to:display a first map including substantially all event venue seating sections in a first portion of the interactive seat map, and display a second map, including an expanded view of at least one user selected seating area, in a second portion of the interactive seat map, wherein the second user can select a seating area in the first map to be displayed in the expanded view of the second map.
  3. 4
The system of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the interactive seat map provides an interface via which the second user can tag at least one user into a venue seat for the event.
  4. 5
The system of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the interactive seat map provides an interface providing the second user an option to have an indication that the second user will be attending the event posted to a social network site. -85CA 2802686 2018-09-17
  5. 6
The system of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the interactive seat map is configured to display information regarding seat availability in a first section in response to the second user selecting a representation of the first section, wherein the representation of the first section excludes a representation of individual seats.
  6. 7
The system of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the interactive seat map is configured to display information indicating whether the first seat is in a shaded area at least partly in response to the second user selecting the first seat.
  7. 8
The system of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the interactive seat map is configured to display information indicating whether a first type of food or drink may be consumed at the first seat at least partly in response to the second user selecting the first seat.
  8. 9
The system of any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the interactive seat map is visually coded to indicate which seats are available, which seats are unavailable and which seats the second user has purchased tickets for.
  9. 10
The system of any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the interactive seat map is visually coded to indicate which seats are available, which seats arc unavailable and for which seats a current ticket holder for those seats has indicated a willingness to resell their seat tickets.
  10. 11
The system of any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein in the interactive seat map, sections and/or seats corresponding to a user specified price range are emphasized without using color coding.
  11. 12
