Concrete material dispensing system

Abstract

A method for learning characteristics for a piece of equipment at a concrete plant includes: receiving a signal related to an operational parameter for the piece of equipment while it's operating; receiving status signals while it's operating; determining whether any of the received status signals correspond to warning or error codes; determining a current operational parameter for it based on the signal related to the operational parameter if no warning or error codes were determined, otherwise ending the method; recording the operational parameter; comparing the recorded operational parameter to a history for the operational parameter to determine whether the recorded parameter deviates from the history for the parameter by an acceptable amount; generating an error code and ending the method if the recorded parameter deviates from the history for the parameter by more than the acceptable amount; and updating the history for the parameter with the recorded parameter.

  1. 1
CA 02666705 2014-10-20 THE SUBJECT-MATTER OF THE INVENTION FOR WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED IS DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:1. A method for learning the characteristics for a piece of equipment located at a concrete plant, comprising: receiving a signal related to an operational parameter for the piece of equipment while the piece of equipment is operating, wherein the signal related to the operational parameter for the piece of equipment is generated by a field box that controls operation of the piece of equipment;receiving status signals while the piece of equipment is operating;determining whether any of the received status signals correspond to warning or error codes;determining a current operational parameter for the piece of equipment based on the signal related to the operational parameter if no warning or error codes were determined, otherwise ending the method if a warning or error code was determined;recording the operational parameter;comparing the recorded operational parameter to a history for the operational parameter to determine whether the recorded operational parameter deviates from the history for the operational parameter by an acceptable amount;generating an error code and ending the method if the recorded operational parameter deviates from the history for the operational parameter by more than the acceptable amount;updating the history for the operational parameter with the recorded operational parameter;and predicting when the piece of equipment needs to be serviced based on the recorded operational parameter and the history for the operational parameter. 2. 7
The method according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein:updating the history for the operational parameter includes incrementing a number of times the piece of equipment has been operated by one, associating the recorded operational parameter with the incremented CA 02666705 2014-10-20 number of times the piece of equipment has been operated, recording the percentage difference between the recorded operational parameter and the history for the operational parameter, associating the percentage difference with the incremented number of times the piece of equipment has been operated, and adjusting the history for the operational parameter based on the recorded operational parameter.
  3. 8
A system for learning the characteristics for a piece of equipment located at a concrete plant comprising:a piece of equipment;a signal generator that generates an operational parameter signal while the piece of equipment is operating;and a field box communicating with the signal generator over a signal path, the field box including a programmable device programmed to: receive the operational parameter signal;determine an operational parameter for the piece of equipment based on the operational parameter signal;receive status signals while the piece of equipment is operating;determine whether any of the status signals correspond to warning or error codes;stop processing if a warning or error code is determined;record the operational parameter;compare the recorded operational parameter to a history for the operational parameter to determine whether the recorded operational parameter deviates from the history for the operational parameter by an acceptable amount;generate an error code and stop processing if the recorded operational parameter deviates from the history for the operational parameter by more than the acceptable amount;update the history for the operational parameter with the recorded operational parameter;and CA 02666705 2014-10-20 predict when the piece of equipment needs to be serviced based on the recorded operational parameter and the history for the operational parameter.
  4. 16
The system of any one of claims 8 to 15 wherein the programmable device is 10 programmed to update the history for the operational parameter by incrementing a number of times the piece of equipment has been operated by one, associating the recorded operational parameter with the incremented number of times the piece of equipment has been operated, recording the percentage difference between the recorded operational parameter and the history for the operational 15 parameter, associating the percentage difference with the incremented number of times the piece of equipment has been operated, and adjusting the history for the operational parameter based on the recorded operational parameter.
