Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of hair care. More specifically, the present invention relates to the conditioning of hair after it has been oxidised in a coloring, bleaching or perming treatment. Superior conditioning is obtained by providing a cationic polymer to the hair while it is subjected to the oxidising treatment, and then the oxidised hair is subjected to a conditioning treatment with a composition comprising a functionalized silicone.

A process for the treatment of hair, wherein said hair is treated with an oxidising composition in the presence of a cationic polymer, and said oxidised hair is then treated with a conditioning composition comprising a functionalized silicone and a vehicle, wherein said functionalized silicone has an interfacial tension (IFT) between about 1 and about 12 mN/m and a viscosity from about 400 to about 150,000 cps wherein the silicone deposits durably on to hair, and wherein said functionalized silicone is G G Ri^ G Illi Rj4—Si-j-0——Si-^-0—Si—R 15 G G AG NH R17 wherein: -m and n are numbers with a sum (n+m) ranging from about 2 to about 2000, n is a number ranging from about 1 to about 1999, and m is a number ranging from about 1 to about 1999;and are chosen such that ratio of m:n is about 1:1000 to about 1:10;-Ru, R|5, Ri6, which may be identical or different, are selected from a hydroxyl radical, C1-C4 alkoxy radicals or methyl;R 14 optionally contains amido groups or other hetero atoms;-A is selected from linear or branched C3-C8 alkyl or C3-C8 alkenyl radicals;-R17 is selected from H, phenyl, linear or branched C1-C4 alkyl radicals, linear or branched (C2-C8)NH2, or benzyl;-G is selected from H, phenyl, hydroxyl, or C1-C8 alkyl;and said functionalized silicone is of the random or block type.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein said cationic polymer is selected from polyquatemium 22, polyquatemium 37, aminosilicones, hexadimethrine halide, or mixtures thereof.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the ratio of m:n is about 1:1000 to about 1:25.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the ratio of m:n is about 1:800 to about 1:50.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the ratio of m:n is about 1:500 to about 1:50.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the sum m+n is in the range of about 150 to about 2000.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the sum m+n is in the range of about 250 to about 1200.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the sum m+n is in the range of about 300 to about 800.

    A process according to any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein said functionalized silicone is R 14 —Si-fo—Si-fH-0—Si-^o—Si—R 15 NH wherein G is selected from H, phenyl, hydroxyl or methyl;and said functionalized silicone is of the random or block type.

    A kit-of-parts for the treatment of hair which comprises:a composition comprising an oxidising agent and a suitable carrier;a composition comprising a cationic polymer and a suitable carrier, to be used in a step where said hair is oxidised;a conditioning composition which comprises a functionalized silicone and a cosmetically acceptable vehicle, wherein the functionalized silicone has an interfacial tension (IFT) between about 1 and about 12 mN/m and a viscosity from about 400 to about 150,000 cps CA 02561420 2010-08-09 wherein the silicone deposits durably on to hair, which is to be used in a conditioning step subsequent to said oxidizing step;wherein said functionalized silicone is G G R|6 G I I R 14 —Si-f-o——St-^-0—Si—R 15 G G AG I NH I R17 wherein: -m and n are numbers with a sum (n+m) ranging from about 2 to about 2000, n is a number ranging from about 1 to about 1999, and m is a number ranging from about 1 to about 1999;and are chosen such that ratio of m:n is about 1:1000 to about 1:10;-Rm, Ris, Ri6, which may be identical or different, are selected from a hydroxyl radical, C1-C4 alkoxy radicals or methyl;Rm optionally contains amido groups or other hetero atoms;-A is selected from linear or branched C3-C8 alkyl or C3-C8 alkenyl radicals;-R17 is selected from H, phenyl, linear or branched C1-C4 alkyl radicals, linear or branched (C2-C8)NH 2 , or benzyl;-G is selected from H, phenyl, hydroxyl, or C1-C8 alkyl;and said functionalized silicone is of the random or block type;and instructions for use of said kit for the treatment of hair.

    A kit-of-parts according to any one of claims 15 to 18, wherein said cationic polymer is selected from polyquatemium 22, polyquatemium 37, aminosilicones, hexadimethrine halide, or mixtures thereof.

    A kit-of-parts according to any one of claims 15 to 20, wherein the ratio of m:n is about 1:1000 to about 1:25.
