Speech coder and speech decoder, orthogonal search method and speech coding method

Abstract

A speech coder comprising an adaptive codebook, a random codebook, a synthesis filter and a distortion calculator that calculates a distortion between the input speech signal and a synthetic speech signal obtained by the synthesis filter excited by the adaptive vector and the random vector is disclosed that selects one adaptive vector and random vector that minimizes the distortion. The present invention also discloses an orthogonal search method for excitation of an algebraic structured random codebook for use in a CELP speech coding method as well as a CELP speech coding method that comprises the orthogonal search method for excitation of an algebraic structured random codebook for use in a speech coder and speech decoder.
