The invention relates to a cable crossover exercise apparatus (110) including a central weight stack (124) and opposed extension arms (112, 114). The invention also relates to a functional lift exercise apparatus (10) including a central weight stack (24) and substantially parallel extension arms (12, 14). The invention further relates to a cable exercise apparatus employing a pulley assembly (42, 44, 50, 52, 56, 58) with a 4:1 load ratio.

    An apparatus as recited in claim 21, further comprising a first flange assembly on the resistance assembly and a second flange assembly on the resistance assembly, wherein the first extension arm is coupled to the first flange assembly and the second extension arm is coupled to the second flange assembly, wherein the first and second pulleys are positioned adjacent respective flange assemblies.

    An apparatus as recited in claim 21, wherein the resistance assembly comprises a support frame and a stack of weight plates and wherein movement of the cable moves the weight plates.
