Technical Field
The present invention relates to a mobile communication terminal that can be used on a user's arm or wrist.
Related Technology Discussion
There are conventional mobile terminals that can be loaded by hand and that have one or more functions, such as voice and video call communication, information input and transmission, data storage and the like.
As these functions become more diverse, the mobile terminal can support more complicated functions, such as capturing images or video, playing music or video files, playing games, receiving broadcast and similar signals. By the comprehensive and collective implementation of such functions, the mobile terminal can be incorporated in the form of a player or multimedia device.
In order to implement various functions, numerous attempts are being made in terms of hardware and software. For example, a user interface is provided to allow users to easily and conventionally search and select one or more functions.
Also, as users consider their mobile terminal to be a personal portable device, several designs can be applied to mobile terminals to express the users' personality.
Conventional mobile terminals are sized to be held in hand, so users carry their mobile terminal in a portable manner, or carry their mobile terminal in their pockets, bags or belt holders. However, conventional portable handsets can easily be lost or fall carelessly while being driven.
Mobile terminals have been proposed that can be placed, for example, on clothes, ornaments or on a wristwatch. However, for a concept like this to be realized, it is required that a device like this has good usability without degrading its external appearance.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present inventors have recognized certain drawbacks of the related technology, as explained. Through such recognition, the following concepts and resources were conceived.
A mobile terminal is provided here that can be placed on the human body, such as on the wrists or arms, with a relatively smaller dimension and which implements good usability.
A mobile terminal like this includes a terminal body with a display unit, a bracelet connected at both ends of the terminal body, and a handling unit arranged on the terminal body and movable in multiple directions based on a geometric axis of rotation. With this configuration, the mobile terminal with a small limited size can facilitate an insertion operation and have a better external appearance.
The handling unit may include a wheel installed to be rotatable based on an axis of rotation parallel to a direction of the width of the terminal body. In this case, a pair of pressing keys can be formed to be pressed on both sides of the wheel in order to perform an insertion operation through simple and repeated manipulation, avoiding a complicated numeric keypad.
The display unit can be configured to transmit multiple numbers or characters that can be entered according to a rotation for or against a rotation of the wheel and with an operation of pressing the pair of pressing keys.
The terminal body may include a first mounting part and a second and third mounting parts arranged at both ends of the first mounting part. In this case, the display unit can be arranged in the first assembly part, the handling part can be arranged in the second assembly part and a loudspeaker can be arranged in the third assembly part. The second and third mounting parts can be formed to be symmetrical with respect to each other in an inclined manner based on the first mounting part to thereby facilitate entry and transmission.
The terminal body may include: a first structure with a contact face that comes into contact with the human body, and connecting parts formed at both ends of it to be connected to the bracelet, and second and third structures combined with an upper part of the first structure and forming the second and third assembly parts.
The connection parts of the first structure can come into contact with both end parts of the bracelet and be fixed by screws.
The mobile terminal may additionally include a first sealing part which seals a gap between the terminal body and the bracelet. The first sealing part may include a skirt part formed on the terminal body and covering an edge of an end part of the bracelet in such a way that it overlaps the edge of the end part of the bracelet in a length direction. In this case, the edge of the bracelet can be chamfered and a contact part of the skirt part with the bracelet can be tilted for surface contact with the edge of the bracelet.
Through holes, through which the handling unit is exposed, can be formed in the second and third structures, and a second sealing part can additionally be included on an inner side of the through hole to hermetically seal a gap between the through holes and the handling unit. The second sealing part can be attached along the edges of the handling unit and can be made of a urethane or silicone resin that can be pressed by the second and third structures.
A third sealing part can be additionally formed to hermetically seal a gap between the first and second structures. In this case, the third sealing part can be made of a coated urethane resin along the gap between the first and second structures.
A receiving hole for receiving a card can be formed on a rear surface of the terminal body, and a cover can be separably mounted on the receiving hole. A charging terminal can be arranged on one side of the cover to charge a battery.
A receiving hole for receiving a card can be formed on the rear surface of the terminal body, and a cover can be mounted on the receiving hole in such a way that it can be horizontally rotated. In this case, an insertion hole can be formed by cutting a portion of an edge of the lid to insert the card at a first rotational angle. In this case, a charging terminal can be additionally arranged to charge the battery in the receiving orifice, and can be exposed through the insertion orifice when the lid is at a second rotational angle.
The receiving hole may include a receptacle formed to allow the card or a plug to be connected there. For example, the card can be a UIM / SIM card, and the plug can be in the form of a UIM / SIM card. The plug can be connected with a cable for input or output.
The receptacle may additionally include a pair of detecting pins to detect whether the plug is inserted or not. A conductive connection platform can be provided on a surface of the plug so that, when the plug is inserted, the detector pins can be short circuited.
The terminal body can include a controller to control to switch to a plug connection mode when the UIM / SIM card is not mounted or when the detector pins are shorted.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The mobile terminal in accordance with the exemplary embodiment of the present invention will now be described in detail with respect to the accompanying drawings.
As shown in Figure 1, the mobile terminal 100 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a body of the terminal 110 with a display unit arranged on its outer surface to display visual information. Opposite ends of the terminal body 110 are connected with a bracelet 150 (also shown as items 250, 350, 450 and 650 in figures 2A-2B, 3A-C, 4A-4B and 7, respectively) so that the mobile terminal can be worn on the user's wrist or arm. The terminal body 110 may include a communication module that allows communication with a base station, a server device or an external device on a communication network.
The outer surface of the terminal body 110 includes a first mounting part 111 on which a display unit 120 is arranged, a second mounting part 112 connected to a lower part of the first mounting part 111 and connected to one end of the bracelet 150 , and a third mounting part 113 connected to an upper part of the first mounting part 111 and connected to the other end of the bracelet 150. The first to third mounting parts 111 through 113 can include units that handle input and output functions of the mobile terminal 100.
The second and third mounting parts 112 and 113 are substantially the same height as the outer surface of the bracelet 150, thus preventing a sharp change in shape between the bracelet 150 and the second mounting part 112, and between the bracelet 150 and the third part 113.
Wristband 150 can include antenna radiators 170A and 170B to wirelessly connect the body of terminal 110 to a base station, an independent external device, or a complementary device, such as a headset. Such an arrangement of the antenna radiators 170A and 170B (also shown as items 270A / 270B and 470A / 470B in figures 2A-2B and 4A-4B, respectively) can effectively solve the problem of degradation of reception sensitivity or degradation of the external appearance which can arise if the antenna radiators are installed in the body of terminal 110, which is smaller and of a limited size. Figure 8 shows that the antenna radiators 770A and 770B are installed on the bracelet 750.
The bracelet 150 may include a fastener 151 to allow the body of the terminal 110 to be attached to the user's wrist or arm. The fastening element 151 can be implemented as a buckle, a snap hook, Velcro ™ or the like, and can have an elastic part or can be made of elastic material. The fastener 151 shown in figure 1 is the buckle fastener. The bracelet 150 can be made of leather, rubber and plastic, or it can have a multilayered shape by fixing several layers. Alternatively, the fastener 151 can be eliminated and the bracelet 150 can be formed as a single stretch element.
A handling part 130 (also shown as items 230, 330, 430 and 630 in figures 2A-2B, 3A-C, 4A-4B and 7, respectively) is located in the second assembly part 112 and is configured to be movable in multiple directions based on a geometric axis of rotation. A loudspeaker 140 for transmitting audio information is located in the third mounting part 113. The handling part 130 and loudspeaker 140 provide a convenient input / output environment for the user. As shown in figure 1, the second and third mounting parts 112 and 113 are formed to be inclined in a symmetrical manner with respect to the first mounting part 111. Such a configuration and arrangement can prevent an increase in the projecting parts that can , in other circumstances, interrupt the external appearance when the handset is used. By providing the inclined configuration, handling of the handling unit
130 by the user can be improved. Furthermore, the sloping shape of the second and third mounting parts 112 and 113 can allow a user to view the display unit 120 easily without hiding the display unit by the user's fingers.
The handling unit 130 may include a wheel 131 (also shown as items 231, 631 and 731 in figures 2A-2B, 7 and 8, respectively) installed to be rotatable around an axis of rotation oriented in such a way that the axis axis of rotation of the axis of rotation is parallel to a direction of bracelet width 150. The wheel
131 it can also be pressed in the center or have the ends arranged as push buttons (that is, with a back and forth movement).
A pair of pushbuttons 132 and 133 (also shown as items 232/233 and 632/633 in figures 2A-2B and 7, respectively) can be arranged in a pressable manner on both sides of the wheel 131. Also, the wheel 131 can be formed for input operation by a pressing operation. A key value according to a wheel press operation 131 can be adjusted to mean "Ok" or "enter".
As shown in figure 1, the wheel 131 can be arranged in such a way that a part of it is located on the second mounting part 112 of the terminal body 110. Such configuration and arrangement of the wheel 131 and the pressing keys 132 and 133 allow that the mobile terminal 100 is compact, while still providing sufficient length for the user's finger contact to rotate the wheel 131. A push-off unit or setting (not shown) can be included at both ends of the pushbuttons 132 and 133 to prevent erroneous entry caused by unintentional pressing. For example, an erroneous entry press-off unit may be a projection (projected configuration) formed at the same height as the press keys 132 and 133.
Wheel 131 can be formed to have a cylindrical shape with regular valleys in a circumferential direction to move, upon contact by the user's finger, in a direction for or against to move a pointer or cursor, or to control various adjustable amounts or intensities, for example, the volume of the sound or the brightness of a screen image, etc., in various ways. The wheel can be operated to scroll through a displayed list.
Display unit 120 can transmit a number of characters that can be selectable by rotating for or against wheel 131 and pressing the pair of pressing keys 132 and 133. Namely, when numbers or characters are arranged in the display unit 120, the user can move the cursor or the pointer by means of the wheel 131 and the pressing keys 132 and 133 to select corresponding numbers or characters to dial or edit a message to be transmitted. Display unit 120 can transmit a current time or date, several limited items or an image in a standby mode to save energy.
Rotating for and against the wheel 131 and the pressing keys 132 and 133 can indicate four-way instructions to the cursor or pointer. When an item is selected according to the combination of rotation of wheel 131 and by pressing the pressing keys 132 and 133, the cursor or pointer moves to the item, and then wheel 131 is pressed to execute the item or corresponding function.
For example, figures 12A through 12D show data that is inserted and displayed by display unit 120 by manipulating input unit 130. For example, screen 120 may include several subsections (Shins or frames). One of the subsections is to display text or numbers entered, and the other of the subsections is to display (scrollable) groups of keys. Five (scrollable) groups of keys are displayed in exemplary mode. When wheel 131 is rolled up or down, the groups of keys move up or down just like scrolling up or down (figure 12A). The group of keys selected to insert can be centrally positioned and enlarged. Each group of keys has three key blocks, a left key block, a central key block and a right key block. The left key block corresponds to the left button 132, the central key block corresponds to the wheel 131, and the right key block corresponds to the right button 133. Each key block can have different key values, such as letters, numbers, symbols and the like.
As shown in figure 12B, when the left button is pressed once, one is inserted, when wheel 131 is pressed once, an “A” is inserted, and when the right button 133 is pressed once , a “D” is inserted. Similarly, as shown in figure 12C, by repeatedly pressing one of the left button button 132, wheel 131 and the right button button 133, the displayed number or character can change based on the characters and numbers associated with the group of keys. In addition to entering data, as shown in figure 12D, the input unit can be manipulated to move the cursor in the top window and to perform other functions, such as “Clear”. Input unit 130 is not limited to exposed operations only, but many other mobile terminal operations can be controlled.
Figure 2A is a rear perspective view of a mobile terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and figure 2B is a rear perspective view showing a state in which a cover of the mobile terminal of figure 2A is separated. In the present embodiment, a front configuration of the mobile terminal 200 may have characteristics similar to those of the mobile terminal 110 shown in figure 1, and similar reference numbers are given to the corresponding elements.
As shown in figures 2A and 2B, a cover 261 (also shown as items 461 and 761 in figures 4A-4B and 8, respectively) is provided to open and close an internal space in the terminal body 210 (also shown as item 410 of figures 4A4B) on a rear surface of the terminal body 210. Also shown is the antenna radiator 270B in space 255.
A receiver hole 263 (also shown as item 463 in figures 4A-4B) for receiving a User Identity Module / Subscriber Identity Module (UIM / SIM) card 265 is formed on the rear surface of the terminal body 210. A cover 261 is separably attached to receiver hole 263. cover 261 can be secured by a fastener (not shown), such as a screw. In this way, the UIM / SIM 265 card can be sufficiently protected from the outside and protected from moisture infiltration.
The UIM / SIM card 265 can be inserted into a receptacle 264 (also shown as item 764 in figure 8) to be connected to the body of terminal 210. In addition to the UIM / SIM card 265, a memory card can also be connected to the receptacle 264. The receptacle 264 can be formed in such a way that several other types of cards or a plug can be inserted. Figures 4A and 4B show such configurations in more detail.
As shown in figures 2A and 2B, a charging terminal 262 (also shown as item 462 in figures 4A-4B) for charging a rechargeable battery (not shown) is arranged on one side of the cover 261. The charging terminal 262 can be connected to an external charging device to charge the mobile terminal 100 or a plug unit to supply power to the battery installed in the mobile terminal. Such an arrangement of the charging terminal 262 can advantageously minimize a complicated shape or exposure of the charging terminal, which can be seen from outside the mobile terminal 200 during a state of use. The charging terminal 262 can be connected to a charger with a configuration that allows the body of terminal 210 to be mounted there and to receive external power. A pair of bracelet covers 255 is provided to cover the rear surface of bracelet 250 to protect the antenna radiators 270A and 270B located on bracelet 250. The arrangement of the bracelet covers will be described in more detail below.
Figure 3A is a rear perspective view of a mobile terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, figure 3B is a rear perspective view of the mobile terminal showing a state that the mobile terminal cover of figure 3A is rotated 90 ° and figure 3C is a rear perspective view of the mobile terminal showing a state in which the cover of the mobile terminal of figure 3B is further rotated by 90 °. A front configuration of a mobile terminal 300 according to the present embodiment can have characteristics similar to those of the mobile terminal 100 of Figure 1 above, and similar reference numbers are given to the corresponding elements.
In the present exemplary embodiment, a lid 261 can be formed into a disk type on a lower surface of a mobile terminal 310 and combined to be horizontally rotatable to various positions. In figures 3A through 3C, cover 261 is combined to be horizontally rotatable based on its center.
In this exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a loading terminal 362 is arranged on an inner side of lid 361, and a receptacle 364 and loading terminal 362 can be selectively accessed according to a rotation angle of lid 361. In particular, cover 361 includes an insertion recess 361a through which a card 365 can be inserted into receptacle 364 only at a first angle of rotation. As shown in figure 3B, when the cap 361 is rotated about 90 °, the insert recess 361a is also rotated together to allow the card 365 to be placed inside the receptacle 364 or outside it. When the cap 361 is rotated to a second angle of rotation, charging terminals 362 are exposed. As shown in figure 3C, when the cover 361 is rotated about 180 °, the insert recess 361 is positioned to expose the loading terminals 362. In this configuration, the mobile terminal 300 can be mounted, for example, in a charging station so that charging stations are connected to charging terminals 263 to charge an internal battery.
Unlike the modalities shown in figures 3A through 3C, the mobile terminal can be configured in such a way that, in a state where the receptacle and charging terminals are all capped (which can be called “a closed configuration”), when the lid is rotated clockwise, the receptacle may be exposed, and when the lid is rotated counterclockwise, the charging terminals may be exposed. In this case, the first and second angles of rotation are opposite.
Figure 4A is a rear perspective view of the mobile terminal showing a state in which a plug, instead of a UIM / SIM card, is inserted into a receptacle in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and Figure 4B is a rear perspective view of the mobile terminal showing the receptacle and a connection terminal for the UIM / SIM card, and a plug connected to the receptacle of figure 4A. A front view of a mobile terminal 400 according to the embodiment of the present invention can have characteristics similar to those of the mobile terminal 100 of figure 1, and similar reference numbers are given to the corresponding elements.
In the present embodiment, two or more types of cards can be connected to a 464 receptacle. In particular, as shown in figure 4A, as well as a UIM / SIM 465 card, a plug 491 connected to an external computer 490 or to a network it can also be connected to the handset via the 464 receptacle.
As shown in figure 4B, receptacle 464 can have a socket or support shape to which the UIM / SIM card 465 or plug 491 can be inserted insertably, and includes a terminal part 464a that includes multiple pins on which the UIM / SIM 465 card and the 491 plug can be connected. The 491 plug has the same shape as the UIM / SIM 465 card with a unified external appearance, thereby obtaining a stable connection state with a terminal part 493 of the 464 receptacle.
The 491 plug can be connected to a 492 cable for an input / output function. In particular, as shown in figure 4A, plug 491 can be connected to an external computer 490 or to a network to allow an input or output between the mobile terminal 400 and the external computer or the network. In this way, the 464 receptacle does not need to have an additional connection unit, for example, a socket or a connector, for connection to the external computer 490 or to the network, so that the volume of the handset can be reduced and the formation complicated appearance can be minimized.
As shown in figure 4B, receptacle 464 includes a pair of detector pins 464b to detect whether plug 491 is inserted or not. Detector pins 464b physically detect whether plug 491 has been inserted, as opposed to UIM / SIM card 465, to allow signal transmission between receptacle 464 and plug 491. Detector pins 464b can be formed as elastic springs that can be when plug 491 is inserted into receptacle 464. Conductive connection platforms 494 can be provided on a surface of plug 491 to correspond to detector pins 464b in order to short circuit detector pins 464. In this way, when plug 491 is inserted, detector pins 464b are short-circuited by connection platforms 494, and data can be inserted or transmitted through plug 491 according to plug 491 signal standards in receptacle 464 of according to a corresponding signal. As a result, a single receptacle 464 can be provided that receives and detects whether the UIM / SIM 465 card or plug 491 is inserted there.
Figures 5 and 6 are flowcharts that illustrate the process of a method for connecting the UIM / SIM card and the plug in a single receptacle according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 5 shows a configuration in which the card and plug are commonly used in the receptacle and deleted by software. First, when the handset is turned on (SA10), the handset is turned on in a data communication mode in which the handset is connected to an external device and performs data communication (AS20). In this case, the plug can be inserted into the receptacle so that the handset can be connected to the external computer or to a network to exchange data.
The handset checks whether the UIM / SIM card has been inserted into the receptacle or not (SA30). When the UIM / SIM card is inserted into the receptacle, the handset receives a signal from the UIM / SIM card and changes to a UIM / SIM mode (SA40).
When the UIM / SIM card is separated from the handset receptacle, the handset switches to the data communication mode set as standard (SA20).
Because the data communication mode is set as the default on the mobile terminal, a unit or physical element to recognize the plug or other types of cards, in addition to UIM / SIM, does not need to be provided in the receptacle.
Figure 6 shows a case where the card and plug are commonly used in the receptacle by a physical method. When the handset is turned on (SB10), it immediately changes to a UIM / SIM mode (SB20).
The mobile terminal checks whether a signal from the detector pins (464 in figure 4B) of the receptacle has changed (SB30). If the plug is inserted into the receptacle, a change in the signal from the detector pins is transferred to a controller and the controller changes the handset to the data communication mode (SB40).
In this way, other types of plug cards, not the UIM / SIM card, can be recognized by the receptacle's detecting pins, and data according to the inserted card or plug can be inserted or transmitted.
Figure 7 is an exploded perspective view of a mobile terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. A mobile terminal 600 may include all or part of the characteristics of the mobile terminals described in relation to figures 1 to
6, and similar reference numbers are given to the corresponding elements.
As shown in figure 7, a terminal body 610 includes multiple structures 601, 602 and 603 that form an external appearance of the mobile terminal body 610. Specifically, the terminal body 610 includes the first frame 601 with a contact face that makes contact with the user's body and connecting parts 601a to which a bracelet 650 is connected, and the second and third structures 602 and 603 combined in an upper part of the first structure 601 and with inclined faces 602a, 602b, 603a and 603b in which the second mounting part 112 (in figure 1) and the third mounting part 113 (in figure 1) are formed. In this configuration, the number of structures is thus not limited. For example, the second and third structures 602 and 603 can be integrally formed as a single shape, or additional structures can be provided.
The connecting parts 601a of the first frame 601 can include sections that can make contact with both end faces of the bracelet 650 and are fixed by screws 618. Fixing holes 653 can be formed on both end faces of the bracelet 650 to match to the 618 screws. Such fastening method prevents the connection parts between the bracelet 650 and the body of the terminal 610 from moving relatively or being deformed, obtaining stability of the implementation performance of the other components that can be mounted on the bracelet 650, and improving the connection state with the body of terminal 610. Interrupt projections 606 are formed on the connecting parts 601a of the terminal body 610 to prevent the bracelet 650 from moving or shaking in the direction perpendicular to the length direction, and insertion holes 607 are formed in the bracelet 650 to allow the projections break 606 are inserted there.
Attachment by screws 618 or the presence of interruption projections 606 and insertion holes 607 can prevent bracelet 650 from being deformed or moving in relation to the body of terminal 610 in the vicinity of connection parts 601a.
The terminal body 610 and bracelet 650 are electrically connected by transmission lines 652A and 652B (also shown as items 752A and 752B in figure 8). Transmission line 652A and 652B are connections to the terminal body 610 through connection parts 601a of the first structure 601. Transmission lines 652A and 652B can be power lines to supply the antenna radiators (170A and 170B of figure 1) installed on bracelet 650 up to the body of terminal 610.
Metal earth terminal extension parts 674 can be arranged on one side of the transmission lines 652A and 652B to extend the earth terminal of the first structure 610 when the connection part 601a and the bracelet 650 are fixed by means of screws 618.
The ground terminal extension parts 674 can be formed to make contact automatically by means of the fixing screws 618, thus improving the radio performance of the antenna radiators (170A and 170B of figure 1) installed on the bracelet 650.
The second and third frames 602 and 603 can be configured to form the external front and side appearance of the terminal body 610. In particular, the inclined faces 602a, 602b, 603a and 603b are configured to form the second mounting part (112 in figure 1) and the third mounting part (113 in figure 1). A manipulation part 630 for an input and output and a loudspeaker 640 (also shown as item 740 in figure 8) are exposed on the inclined faces 602a, 602b, 603a and 603b.
The second and third structures 602 and 603 can be formed by injection molding a synthetic resin or they can be made of a metallic material, for example, stainless steel (STS) or titanium (Ti).
A window 604, a display unit 620, a first circuitry that supports substrate 616 (also shown as item 716 in figure 8), a battery 615 (also shown as item 715 in figure 8), a second circuitry that supports substrate 634 (also shown as item 734 in figure 8), handling part 630, a third set of circuits that supports substrate 641 (also shown as item 741 in figure 8), the loudspeaker 650 and the like are installed in an external or internal space of structures 601, 602 and 603. The first, second and third circuit sets that support substrates 616, 634 and 641 can be in the form of printed circuit boards.
Display unit 620 can be substantially dimensioned to form the first mounting part (111 in figure 1) of terminal body 610. Display unit 620 is arranged on an inner side of transmitter window 604 and can be a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to express information visually, a module of Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED), an electronic paper and the like. A touch recognition unit can be provided between the 620 display unit and the window
604 to allow the insertion of information by the touch of the user.
Battery 615 can be formed to be chargeable and configured to be installed in the body of terminal 610. External power is supplied to battery 615 through charging terminals (262 in figure 2A and 362 in figure 3B) as shown, and the battery provides power required by the various components.
Various components that allow mobile communication and input and output are mounted on the first circuitry that supports substrate 616. The handling part 630 and the second circuitry that supports substrate 634 can be combined in a module-type assembly. Speaker 640 is supported by the third circuitry that supports substrate 651. The second circuitry that supports substrate 634 and the third circuitry that supports substrate 641 can be connected to the first circuitry that supports substrate 616 via a connection line or an FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board). Transmission lines 652A and 652B extended from bracelet 650 are connected to the second circuitry that supports substrate 634 and to the third circuitry that supports substrate 651 after passing through the connecting parts 601a of the first structure 601, respectively.
The first sealing parts can be provided on the bracelet 650 and the first structure 601 of the terminal body 610 to seal a gap between the terminal body 610 and the bracelet 650. The first sealing parts are formed on the first and second structures 601 and 602 from the terminal body 610 and may include skirt parts 609 to cover the edges 650a of the end part of the bracelet 650.
The skirt parts 609 are formed at both ends of the terminal body 610 connected to the bracelet 650 in such a way that they overlap the bracelet 650 in a length direction to cover the edges 650a of the end parts of the bracelet 650.
The edges 650a of the bracelet 650 can be formed to be chamfered, and the contact parts of the skirt parts 609 with the bracelet 650 can be formed to be inclined for surface contact with the edges 650a.
In this way, when the bracelet 650 is attached to the first frame 601, and an embedded body of the second and third frames 602 and 603 is attached to the first frame 601, the edges 650a of the end part of the bracelet 650 can be firmly attached to the angled parts of skirt parts 609, implementing waterproof or dustproof features.
The second and third frames 602 and 604 can be mutually connected to support the internal components including the display unit 620. The built-in body of the second and third frames 602 and 603 is attached to the first frame by screws.
A through hole 638 is formed between the second and third structures 603, through which the handling part 630 rotatable in multiple directions is exposed.
In order to prevent moisture infiltration into the terminal body 610 through through hole 638, a second sealing part 635 is formed to seal a gap between through hole 638 and handling part 630. The second sealing part 635 it can be made of a urethane or silicone resin, and formed along edges of the handling part 630. The second sealing part 635 can be manufactured to be injection molded (dual injection molding) in conjunction with a reinforcement element 636 (also shown as item 736 in figure 8) made of a stronger material.
A gap between the first and second frames 601 and 602 is hermetically sealed by a third sealing part 608. The third sealing part 608 can be linearly formed between a gap when the first and second frames 601 and 602 are assembled.
Figure 8 is a sectional view of a mobile terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and figures 9A through 9C are sectional views showing a process for assembling a waterproof method of the first and second parts of sealing of the mobile terminal in figure 8. A mobile terminal 700 of the present invention can include all or part of the characteristics of the mobile terminals described in relation to figures 1 to 7, and similar reference numbers are assigned to the corresponding elements.
As shown in figure 8, an external surface of a window 704 that forms the first mounting part (111 in figure 1) may have a curved surface to be in harmony with the configuration of the external appearance of the mobile terminal 700. reduce scattered reflection, window 704 can employ tempered glass without gap.
A bracelet 750 includes base elements 757 with receiver recesses 756 for receiving antenna radiators 770A and 770B, fixing parts 754A and 754B with screw holes to be attached by screws 718 to a terminal body 710, and bracelet covers 755A and 755B to open and close the receptacle holes 756. The bracelet includes a fastener (for example, buckle) 751.
Spacers 759 can be formed on the bracelet covers 755A and 755B in order to separate the antenna radiators 770A and 770B from an inner surface of the bracelet 750. In this way, the antenna radiators 770A and 770B can be sufficiently separated from the user's body, such as the user's pulse.
Antenna radiators 770A and 770B concern a first antenna radiator 770A for mobile communication and a second antenna radiator 770B for short-range communication. The first and second antenna radiators 770A and 770B can be arranged on mutually opposite sides based on the terminal body 710. The antenna radiators 770A and 770B can be installed to be parallel to the bracelet 750 so that they cannot be less affected by the human body (user) or the outside.
The first antenna radiator 770A can have a corresponding length and pattern to have a band, such as CDMA, GSM and the like, for transmission and reception with a base station or with other users during movement, and the second antenna radiator 770B can have a length and pattern to communicate with a wireless headset or a nearby Bluetooth ™ server device.
Having the first antenna radiator 770A for mobile radio communication and the second antenna radiator 770B for short-range communication, a good external appearance can be implemented, compared to the related technology on which the antenna radiator is designed or exposed to. from the terminal body. In this way, because the capacity of the antenna radiators 770A and 770B is reduced, the size of the mobile terminal can also be reduced.
As shown in figure 9A, an end part of the bracelet 750 makes contact with a first structure 701 and is fixed by a screw 718. The first structure
701 includes a skirt part 709, which includes edges 709a and 709b, and is formed to cover an edge 750a of the end part of the bracelet 750. Thus, when the bracelet 750 is attached to the first structure 701 of the terminal body 710 in a In the length direction, the edge 750a of the end part of the bracelet 750 can be compressed in relation to the first skirt part 709a, hermetically sealing the bracelet 750 and the first structure 701.
As shown in figure 9B, an embedded part of the second and third structures 702 and 703 is mounted on the first structure 701. When the assembly of the second and third structures 702 and 703 is arranged in such a way that a handling part 730 is exposed through of a through hole 738 between the second and third structures
702 and 703, the assembly is attached to the first frame 701 by a screw (not shown). In this process, the second sealing parts 735 formed on the edge parts of the handling part 730 are pressed onto the inner surfaces of the second and third structures 702 and 703, hermetically sealing a gap between the handling part 730 and the second and third structures 702 and 703. The handling part 730 is on a 739 platform.
Figures 10A through 10C are plan views showing the structure of the antenna radiator installed on the bracelet according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
Specifically, figure 10A shows a configuration in which a feeder 852 for feeding an electromagnetic signal in a terminal body (Receive mode: Rx) or vice versa (Transmission mode: Tx) and an extension terminal of earth terminal 874 are not connected. As shown in figure 10A, the antenna radiator 870 can include an insulation layer 871 in the form of a film and a conductive pattern 872 formed in the insulation layer 871. For example, the antenna radiator 870 can be formed as an FPCB.
A small projecting part 873 shorter than the conductor pattern 872 can be formed on the opposite side of the conductor pattern 872. The small projecting part 873 can be connected to the ground terminal extension part to improve the performance of the radiator antenna antenna as described below. A connector 875 is provided between the small protruding part 873 and the conductor pattern 872 to detach or attach feeder 852. Feeder 852 can be formed as a coaxial cable, and connector 875 is formed coaxially.
Figure 10B shows a configuration in which the ground terminal extension part 874 is connected to the antenna radiator 870. As shown in figure 10B, the earth terminal extension part 874 can be made of a flexible metallic material and includes a screw hole 874a in such a way that one end of it is connected to the antenna radiator 870 and the other end between in contact with the first structure (see the description on 601 and 601a in figure 7) by means of a screw.
Thus, because the bracelet includes the 870 antenna radiator, a problem such as the degradation of radio performance, which can arise when the 870 antenna radiator is located away from the earth terminal of the terminal body, can be effectively overcome.
Figure 10C shows a configuration in which the ground terminal extension part 874 and feeder 872 are connected to the antenna radiator 870. As shown in figure 10C, connector 875 is connected by the opposite connector 852a formed on a part of end of feeder 852 to transmit a signal received from the antenna radiator 870 to the terminal body or to radiate a radio signal received from the terminal body in the air.
In particular, the antenna radiator 870 can be connected to the extension portion of the earth terminal 874 to form a type of flat inverted F antenna (PIFA). Such structure and arrangement of the antenna radiator 870 can effectively prevent possible degradation of the performance of the antenna radiator 870 since the antenna radiator 870 is arranged to be close to the human body.

In this way, a desired menu or function can be quickly accessed by turning for or against the wheel. A corresponding function can be performed by pressing the wheel, and movement to a different direction from a direction indicated by the wheel can be performed by pressing the key. For example, in order to enter characters and numbers, the handset arranges numbers or alphabets in the display unit 20. The arranged numbers or alphabets can be specified by the manipulation of the wheel or the key press by the user and transmitted as a phone number of a sentence in the display unit 20.
The display unit 20 can display or transmit information processed on the mobile terminal. In a different point of view, for example, when the handset is in phone call mode, the display unit 20 can display a User Interface (UI) or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) associated with a call or with other communication under the control of controller 80. When the handset is in video call mode or image capture mode, display unit 20 can display a captured image and / or received image, a UI, a GUI and the like, under the control of the controller 80 The display unit can also be used as an input device, as well as an output device by including a touchscreen.
Furthermore, the display unit 20 can display and transmit the UI or GUI to inform the user or to receive an instruction regarding a state in which a card is inserted or a plug is inserted in a different way.
The audio output unit 40 can convert audio data received from the mobile communication module 81 or stored in memory 82 and transmit the converted data into a call signal reception mode, a telephone call mode, a recording mode, a mode of voice recognition and the like, under the control of controller 80.
Also, the audio output module 40 can provide audible outputs related to a particular function (for example, a call signal receiving sound, a message receiving sound, etc.) performed by the mobile terminal. The audio output module 40 may include a loudspeaker, a receiver, a bell or the like.
Memory 82 can store programs or the like used for processing and control performed by controller 80, or it can temporarily store inserted / transmitted data (for example, a phonebook, messages, still images, video, etc.). Memory 82 may include at least one type of storage media that includes a type of hard disk, a card-type memory (for example, SD or XD memory, etc.), a flash memory, a Random Access Memory (RAM) , an Exclusive Reading Memory (ROM) and the like.
In addition, the mobile terminal may include a broadcast receiver module that can receive a broadcast signal transmitted via a satellite or a terrestrial device, convert it into a broadcast data format that can be transmitted to the output unit audio 40 and display unit 20, and transmit the converted data to controller 80. In addition, the diffusion receiver module can receive complementary data associated with a diffusion (for example, Electronic Program Guide (EPG), a channel list, etc.). The broadcast data and supplementary data converted by the broadcast receiver module 86 can be stored in memory 84.
The mobile terminal can include an external interface that can receive data or power from an external device and transfer it to the respective elements on the mobile terminal, or transfer internal data from the mobile terminal to the external device. The external interface can be configured to be connected with a keyboard that can perform an input operation from the outside. The external interface can be implemented as one of a connection port (terminal) to connect a headset to the mobile terminal via a fixed or wireless device, a port for short-range communications (for example, a connection port). Infrared Data Association (IrDA), a Blue20 tooth ™ port, a wireless LAN port, etc.).
The power supply unit 15 can supply power required for the operation of each element by receiving external power or internal power under the control of controller 80. The power supply unit 15 can be provided to be installed in the terminal body or it can be supplied with power from an external source through a charging terminal (262 in figure 3) and store it.
Since the exemplary modalities can be implemented in a variety of ways without departing from their characteristics, it is also understood that the exemplary modalities described above are not limited by any of the details of the exposed description, unless otherwise specified, but instead , should be widely interpreted in the scope defined in the appended claims. Therefore, it is intended that the various changes and modifications that fall within the scope of the claims or the equivalents of that scope are embraced by the attached claims.
