Coated substrates prepared with waterborne sealer and primer compositions

the present invention provides multi-layer coated substrates, prepared using primer and / or sealer compositions comprising water-based curable film-forming compositions, water-based curable film-forming compositions comprising: (a) an aqueous dispersion of a pigment and (i) polymeric urethane film particles having a core-film morphology and having hydroxyl functional groups; wherein the polymeric urethane film particle core is prepared from a mixture of monomers comprising ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomers and wherein the polymeric urethane film particle core comprises a polyurethane or polyurethane urea polymer; or (ii) polymeric acrylic film particles having a core-film morphology and having hydroxyl functional groups; wherein the polymeric acrylic film particle core is prepared from a mixture of monomers comprising ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomers and the polymeric acrylic film particle layer is prepared from a mixture of monomers comprising ethylenically unsaturated hydrophilic monomers; (b) a polyisocyanate crosslinking agent; and, optionally (c) a hydroxyl functional water dispersible acrylic polymer.
