A server MSC, which is an MSC that provides call processing for a mobile unit that is not the mobile unit's local MSC, sends a registration notification request to the local location registration (HLR). The HLR retrieves the HLR termination passcode parameter and sends it to the server MSC. The termination passcode parameter includes a value that indicates whether the mobile unit is allowed to make visitor door calls. The parameter is stored in a VLR associated with the MSC server. When a call request arrives at the MSC server and requests a visitor port call with the mobile unit, the MSC server checks the termination restriction code value to determine whether it should terminate, or complete, the connection.
