Method to decentralize the counting of abnormal call release events on a per cell base in digital cellular communication networks

Abstract

This method is a digital cellular communication network is described to collect performance measurements for a wireless link delay associated with the event, the digital cellular communication network is an active set of multiple radio links between the mobile unit and the radio access network effective use. Radio link in the active set, are provided opposite one or more cells belonging to adjacent clusters within a cell controlled by the serving radio network controller and each of the. As a master of the various controllers are active set to communicate with the core network, connected to each other, or directly controls which act as slave for executing the request from the master to be used in, and the radio link installed or removed for managing radio resources. The master radio controller sends a predetermined information on the cause of removal when calling a slave for requesting a specific radio link removal from the active set also as a slave. Slave radio controller increases the performance measurement counter associated with a particular cause, and the radio link removal is required when a particular cell receives the cause information. To that effect, 3GPP RNSAP Radio Link Delay Request message is upgraded to include an Information Element used to specify the "Cause" of the delay. Periodically the network operator recovers all the counters will be able to associate the specific radio link failure events to specific cells.
