The present invention relates to a self-test method for a plurality of vehicle audio unit, as part of the assembly process, each vehicle audio unit includes a microprocessor, a memory device and an integrated circuit, said method comprising the steps of a plurality of: using a predetermined test coding a programmed microprocessor, for each integrated circuit to automatically confirm the operability of the unit; confirmation of the presence of the test station of the assembly line unit; start coding the test; the same test of each unit said plurality of integrated circuits; and a record of any detected fault codes related to the audio unit.
