Formulations containing amiodarone and sulfoalkyl ether cyclodextrin

The present invention provides an aqueous parenteral formulation containing amiodarone, such as antiarrhythmic and sulfoalkyl ether cyclodextrin. Liquid formulations may be transparent, sterile, chemically is also physically stable. Liquid formulations without the need for a surfactant does not precipitate when diluted with distilled water or another pharmaceutically acceptable liquid carrier. Sulfoalkyl ether cyclodextrin-containing formulations of amiodarone other cyclodextrin-containing provides significant advantages over the preparation. While providing acceptable levels of amiodarone for parenteral administration, acidic, neutral and basic medium at about the preparation it can be produced. The SAE-CD- containing formulations of amiodarone can be provided as a powder in a liquid form or reconfigurable. It is also possible to prepare a highly concentrated solution to exceed 200 mg per ml amiodarone. The solution may be to prevent or dilution or may be diluted with water under conditions that are typically encountered in clinical or at room temperature.
