A protection device (200) for use in a body lumen, comprising: a distal elongate support (202) member having a proximal elongate segment and an elongated distal segment, each said proximal elongated segments and having proximal ends and distal the distal end (205) of the proximal elongate segment being enlarged; a proximal sliding element (204) slidable on the elongate proximal segment, the flared distal end (205) of the proximal elongate segment limits movement of the proximal slide member in a distal direction; a distal slider (207) slidable on the elongate member distal; a functional element (201) carried by the elongate support member (202), the functional element is expandable from a delivery configuration to an expanded deployed configuration when the functional element (201) is deployed in the body lumen, having the functional element (201) a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the functional element is attached to the proximal sliding element (204), the functional element a body defining a cavity, the distal enlarged end (205) of the segment being contained elongated proximal within the cavity, and the distal end (206) being attached the functional element (201) to the distal slider (207), the distal end of the distal elongate segment is contained within the cavity and is charged slidably the distal slider (207) when the functional element (201) is in the delivery configuration and when the functional element (201) is in the expanded deployed configuration.
