Wireless communications network incorporating voice over ip using shared supplemental spreading codes

Abstract

High spreading factor (SF) perpendicular to variable spreading factor (OVSF) codes may be associated with, and the main channel, the transmitting voice (VoIP) over the Internet Protocol over the auxiliary channel that belongs to a pool of shared on the secondary channel in a wireless communication network and a method and apparatus for minimizing the adverse effects on the system resources associated with the execution of the VoIP on a downlink dedicated channel (DCH) and thereby are described. In the method and apparatus, the total not VoIP packets can be sent during a single transmission time interval in the main channel, certain of the auxiliary channel (or its associated code) assigned to a user equipment (UE) to which the VoIP packets are intended It is. A part of the VoIP packet is transmitted to the UE through the dedicated physical data channel (DPDCH) on the main channel, and another part of the VoIP packet is transmitted to the UE through a DPDCH on the secondary channel. The assigned a specific OVSF code (or supplemental channel associated with it) belong to the set of secondary OVSF code assigned to the UE, the set of the assigned secondary OVSF code is shared pool of secondary OVSF code held in the Node B It belongs to. Identification of a specific OVSF code with the secondary allocation is indicated to the UE through the dedicated physical data channel (DPDCH) on the main channel. The UE, a specific supplemental channel (or its associated code) checks the DPCCH channel in order to determine whether the key that is assigned to it. If the allocation is specified on the secondary channel, the UE will decode the data on that assigned a specific supplemental channel according to data on the main channel. If not, the UE will only decode the data on the main channel. A wireless communication network, a voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), the main channel and the secondary channel, a downlink dedicated channel (DCH), orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) code
