Taper disengagement tool

A disassembly tool (10) for separating first (32) and second (34) components of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis includes a body (11) having an internal bore (20). At least a portion (22) of the internal bore is threaded for engagement with a thread on the first component of the prosthesis. The tool includes an expandable ring (16) surrounding a portion of the body and adapted to engage the first component, such that when a radial force is applied to the body, the ring expands, applying an axial force against the first component.
