Abstract

A portable attenuator system crashes comprising: a trailer frame (102); a mechanism for absorbing energy having a energy absorbing section of the first stage (167); and impact head assembly (104) attached to said energy absorbing section of the first stage (167); characterized in that said section of energy absorption phase (167) is connected pivotably on a first hinge member (162) to a section of energy absorption second phase (169) pivotally connected to a second member hinge (163) to said trailer frame (102), and said mechanism is movable about said first and second hinge members from a first mode to a second deployed transport mode.
