Combining audio signals using auditory scene analysis

Abstract

A process for mixing reducing three input channels of α audio, and δ two audio channels α output '' and δ '', in which the three channels of audio input represent, in order, consecutive spatial directions α, β, and δ and the two channels α output '' and δ '' represent non-consecutive spatial directions α and δ, comprising extracting common signal components of the two channels of audio input representing the α addresses and δ to produce three intermediate channels: α channel ', a modification of the α channel representing the α direction, comprising the α channel' components of the signal α channel which components common to channels α input signal and δ they have been virtually eliminated, channel δ ', a modification of channel δ representing the δ direction, channel δ comprises' components of the signal δ channel which components common to channels α input signal and δ are practically eliminated, and β channel ', a new channel representing the β direction, the β channel comprising' components common to channels α input and δ signal, combining intermediate channel α ', intermediate channel β ', and channel β input to produce the channel α output' 'combining intermediate channel δ', and intermediate channel β ', and channel β input to produce output channel δ' ', and apply dynamically one or more settings of time, phase, and amplitude or power to one or more of the α between channels ', β' and δ 'and channel β entry and / or one or both of the channels combined output α' 'and β' ', in which one or more of said adjustments are controlled at least in part by a measure of audible on one or more channels of the input channels, the intermediate channels events, and / or channels combined output, an audio segment in a channel between consecutive boundaries constitutes an auditory event, and wherein each border audible event is identified in response to a change in spectral content with respect to time in a channel exceeding a setpoint so that a set of borders audible event is obtained for each channel.
