System and method for managing data deduplication of storage systems utilizing persistent consistency point images

A system which manages data duplication dissolution of a storage system which is using an eternal consistency point image (PCPI), and a method. When target PCPI of data transfer is generated, a backup management module of a storage system emits warning to a data duplication dissolution module, and makes duplication dissolution of data contained in target PCPI start. If a duplication dissolution procedure is completed, duplication dissolution of an active file system of a storage system will be completed, but target PCPI is placed as duplication dissolution is not carried out by it. Answering this, a backup management module generates and carries out the extract port of the changed target PCPI. Then, former target PCPI is deleted and a state of a file system of a PCPI image in which the extract port was carried out by it shifts to a duplication dissolution state. [Chosen drawing] Drawing 8
