Catheter having an improved balloon-to-catheter bond

An assembly balloon catheter comprising: a first tubular member formed of a polyamide material, the first tubular member having a proximal portion and a distal portion with a lumen extending between the proximal portion and distal portion; a balloon formed of a polyester material, the balloon has a proximal waist length, a length from distal neck and an expandable region including disposed about the distal portion of the first tubular member; and a bonding layer of polymeric insert preformed disposed between the length of the proximal waist and / or length of the distal neck and the first tubular member, wherein the bonding layer comprises a layer of polyester polymer disposed on a polymer layer polyamide by extrusion, wherein the layer of polyamide polymer is disposed between the layer of polyester polymer and the first tubular member.
