Annuloplasty prosthesis (10) for implantation in a heart-valve annulus, comprising the prosthesis (10) comprising: a ring element (18) having a longitudinal axis (22), a curved portion (14), and a generic straight portion (12), the arcuate portion (14) having a first end region and a second end region, the generally straight portion between the first end region and second end region extending; and a plurality of openings (20) arranged along the curved portion (14), the annuloplasty prosthesis (10) being characterized in that the openings (20) are oriented generally transverse to the longitudinal axis (22), and at least one of a size, shape, or position of each opening (20) is selected such that the curved portion (14) is more flexible than the straight portion (12).
