Method and lidar system for measuring air turbulences on board aircraft and for airports and wind farms

Abstract

The Invention describes a method for measuring air turbulence with a lidar system, in particular on board aircraft, in which a pulsed expanded laser beam (12) of predetermined wavelength is sent to a space area to and from the space area backscattered Light is received, wherein a at a first time t1 and second point in time t2 after emission of a laser pulse (L) in each case the intensity distribution in cross-section of the backscattered Light is measured, and from the comparison of both intensity distributions defined air turbulence in the times t1 and t2 Measurement field is determined. These activities use of cameras (21, 22) images of speckle patterns recorded. An evaluation (30) takes a cross-correlation through to make the turbulence visible and displaying on a monitor (35).
