Remote personalization and issuance of identity documents

A system (10) for customization and remote issuance of identity documents (14) comprising a machine portable personalization (12) including at least one personalization unit (16) to perform a customization to a document identity (14), an inlet for entry of identification (14) that is to be customized, an outlet for output of an identity document (14) personalized by the personalization unit (16), a unit control (18) controlling the personalization unit (16), communications equipment (22) to permit communications with a controlling authority (24) remote from the personalization machine (12) and an interface (28) to allow connection a local controller (26); a supervisory authority (24) remote from the personalization machine (12) and a local controller (26) which can be connected to the interface (28) of the personalization machine (12); characterized in that it is provided with a receiver global positioning system (20) is adapted to provide the control unit (18) the current geographical location of the machine portable personalization (12) to be sent to the authority control (24) as part of an activation request; the supervisory authority (24) is adapted to send an activation signal to the personalization machine (12) if the information activation request matches the information stored in the control authority (24) and the personalization machine (12 ) it is adapted to wait and receive the activation signal in response to the activation request and in which the activation signal enables operation of the personalization unit (16) so that it can perform a personalization function.
