Self-sealing male luer connector with multiple seals

Connector (10) male self-sealing for connection to a connector (86) female comprising the male connector: a rigid housing (12) having a distal end (16) and a proximal end (14), the housing comprising at the end distal part (22) rigid tubular male having a shape selected for engagement with a female connector; a distal valve (59) at the distal end of the housing, the distal valve comprising a seat (70) internal valve disposed in the tubular male portion; a proximal valve (81) located at the proximal end of the housing; and disposed rigid actuator (36) movably in the housing for movement toward the proximal end of the housing to open both the distal valve and the proximal valve, the actuator comprising a rigid actuator arm (28) disposed adjacent and outside, the tubular male portion wherein movement of the actuator arm towards the proximal end of the housing will cause the actuator to move towards the proximal end of the housing and open both the distal valve and the proximal valve, and wherein the actuator is shaped so that when the actuator moves towards the distal end of the housing, the proximal valve closes before the distal valve closes; whereby when a female connector is coupled to the tubular male portion, the female connector will move the actuator arm towards the proximal end of the housing thereby opening both the distal valve and the proximal valve.
