Simplified tissue processing

A method of tissue processing of one or more tissue specimens for use in microtomy or histology, the method comprising: (a) initially impregnating a tissue specimen in a single non-aqueous admixture which is heated, said functions nonaqueous mixture (i) fixing, (ii) dehydration and (iii) rinsing and including at least one ketone, at least one alcohol, and mineral oil; and then (b) impregnating wax substantially the tissue specimen with a single wax solution which is heated and is also lower than the atmospheric pressure; characterized in that the method uses only two different chemical compositions.
