Operating table (10) comprising a column (12), an adjustable support surface (16) which can be fixed releasably on this column, and an installation (24) for adjusting the operating table (10 ), having a control unit (26) for inputting adjustment instructions for adjusting the operating table (10) and a cable (28) for direct transmission of the setting instructions from the control unit ( 26) on the support surface (16) adjustable, in which the cable (28) is connected or can be connected with one end with the control unit (26) and can be plugged with its other end through a plug connection (20) in the support surface (16), wherein the cable (28) can be further plugged through a plug connection (22) in column (12).
