Locking device for a medical guidewire

An assembly comprising an endoscope (150) having an access port (190), an elongated member (36) extending through the access port (190) and a trailer locking device (200) to the endoscope to maintain to elongate at a selected location within a body lumen relative to the endoscope (150), member the locking device (200) comprising: a substantially rigid body (208) including an attachment portion (202) adapted to be coupled the endoscope (150) wherein, when in an operative position, the distal portion of the endoscope (150) is received within the body lumen; an angled head (206) coupled to the substantially rigid body (208), the angled head (206) is configured to rest on the access port (190) of the endoscope (150) when the attachment portion (202) is coupled to endoscope (150) in a predetermined configuration; a variety of locking mechanisms (210) extending from the angled head (206) to immobilize a section of the elongate member relative to the endoscope (150); and a locking arm (250) extending from the locking device (200) so that, when the joint portion (202) is coupled to the endoscope (150), the locking arm (250) extends between the access port (190) and the locking mechanisms (210) to guide the elongated member from the access port (190) to the locking mechanisms (210) along a desired path member.
