Process for the prepration of a Methanol reforming catalyst having a reduced volume shrinkage

Abstract

A methanol reforming catalyst containing passivated copper and zinc oxide and / or alumina, prepared by DOLLAR A (1) precipitating or spray drying a mixture of dissolved or slurried in a diluent, catalyst precursor components to form a solid catalyst precursor, in powder or granular form, DOLLAR A (2) calcining and reducing the in step (1) obtained solid catalyst precursor, DOLLAR A (3) passivation of in step (2) resulting reduced catalyst precursor, DOLLAR A (4) forming in step (3) obtained passivated catalyst precursor to form the catalyst. DOLLAR A A reduction of volume shrinkage and an increase in mechanical hardness of the operation of the methanol reforming catalyst is achieved by the manufacturing method.
