Apparatus for histoprocessing of tissue samples

A method for continuous tissue processing comprising (a) providing a sample of tissue up to 3 mm thick; (B) fix, dehydrate and remove fat from said tissue sample with microwave energy and non-aqueous solutions, with at least one non-aqueous solution a first solution consisting of an alcohol and a ketone in a ratio by volume of alcohol relative to ketone between 1 and 3; (C) impregnating said sample of tissue fixed, dehydrated and defatted in subatmospheric pressure by a wax solution comprised of paraffin; (D) repeating steps (a) to (c) with at least another tissue specimen; whereby they treated continuously tissue samples initiating step (a) for a sample of treated fabric subsequently before step (c) is completed for a sample of treated fabric above so that a tissue sample is from fixation to impregnation in less than two hours.
