The invention relates to a siphon for condensate of a heater, wherein a

In a siphon known from US Pat. No. 4,729,328, the filling of the collecting space, which ensures a substantially gas-tight closure of the siphon from the outflow, takes place with a condensate residue. However, there is the disadvantage that it may come to extensive evaporation of condensate, whereby the substantially gas-tight closure of the siphon is lost.

The aim of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to propose a siphon of the type mentioned, in which the risk of evaporation of the liquid serving as a barrier is largely avoided.

According to the invention this is achieved in that the collecting space is filled with a liquid which evaporates only with difficulty, whose specific density is higher than that of the condensate and whose mirror is located between the lower opening of the inlet pipe and the drain.

By this measure, a secure closure of the siphon is achieved.

In this context, it can further be provided that the collecting space is filled with silicone oil.

The silicone oil acts as an evaporation barrier. This will also ensure that even with an exposure of the siphon with relatively hot exhaust gases drying of the siphon is avoided.

The collecting space can be formed as a closed by a screw cap tube and optionally closed for transport with a lid. In this way it is possible to ship a siphon according to the invention in the disassembled state with the intended filling, for example with silicone oil.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which shows a siphon according to the invention.

The siphon 1 for a condensation heater consists essentially of a collecting space 2 enclosing vertically positioned pipe 3, which is provided with a lateral outlet 4, to which a drain pipe 5 is connected. This tube 3 is sealed at its lower end 12 with a screw cap 6.

Into the collecting space 2 projects an axially parallel to the pipe 3 arranged inlet pipe 7 into it, wherein the lower end 13 of the inlet pipe 7 is below the drain 4.

The collecting space 2 is partially filled with a liquid 9, for example silicone oil, which is characterized by a high heat of evaporation and a specific density which is higher than that of the condensate 8 to be discharged via the siphon 1.

The condensate 8 flowing in via the introduction pipe 7 together with the exhaust gas of a heating device passes under the mirror 10 of the liquid 9, which is located between the lower end 13 of the inlet pipe 7 and the drain 4, into the collecting space 2 and rises in the annular space 14 between the inlet pipe 7 and the pipe 3 high, since the specific gravity of the condensate flowing in via the inlet pipe 7 is lower, as those of the collection chamber 2 located and serving as evaporation barrier liquid 9th
