A method for controlling a process for handling a material having a velocity analog value and a voltage, the method comprising the steps of: a) determining a reference voltage; b) determining the tension; c) determining a voltage error; d) determining the velocity analog value; e) determining a proportional gain; and it characterized by the steps of: f) determining an instantaneous integral gain according to the velocity analog value; g) adjust the output voltage depending on the error, the proportional gain and the instantaneous integral gain.
