Medical laser device

Laser device for medical applications, comprising: a laser source (14) for emitting laser radiation; an optical fiber (12) having a proximal end (15) and a distal end (13), said optical fiber (12) being in communication with said laser source (14) for transmitting said laser radiation and for emitting said laser radiation from said distal end (13); a flexible introducer sheath (40) having a proximal end (50) and a distal end (60), wherein said optical fiber is insertable into said introducer sheath (40) and wherein said introducer sheath is capable of being withdrawn relative to said optical fiber (12) so that said optical fiber (12) projects beyond said introducer sheath (40); said optical fiber (12) comprising a first mark (45) wherein when said introducer sheath (40) is capable of being withdrawn relative to said optical fiber (12) so that said first mark is substantially aligned with the end proximal (50) of said introducer sheath (40) then said optical fiber (12) is positioned so that the distal end (13) of said optical fiber (12) is substantially in alignment with the distal end (60) said introducer sheath (40); further wherein said introducer sheath (40) comprising graduated markings to help the user to remove the introducer sheath (40) at a desired rate and a seal frictionally (42) at the proximal end (50) of the introducer sheath (40) to form a seal between said introducer sheath (40) and said optical fiber (12), in order to prevent bleeding during insertion into blood vessels; further comprising said laser device for medical applications a visual or audible to provide an indication of how quickly should withdraw the introducer sheath (40) indicator.
