Improved mooring system

A mooring system (10) for mooring a vessel to a part of the floor of a body of water, said system comprising: a support member elongated substantially rigid (12) coupled adjacent a lower end (16) thereof to an anchor on said floor portion; and displacement buoy (20) slidably received in said support member (12) so that the displacement buoy (20) is able to walk up and down said support member (12) with the movement of the waves ; wherein the elongated support member (12) has a connecting point adjacent an upper end thereof to which is connectable a vessel, and a resilient member (26) operatively associated with the buoy (20) such that movement ascending of the displacement buoy (20) causes said resilient member (26) is stretched, extending, in use, the support member (12) in a substantially vertical orientation in a body of water and, when the support member (12) is forced to move outside the vertical with the buoy (20) is forced by the surrounding water to slide the support member (12) and cause said resilient member (26) is stretched, thereby producing said resilient member (26) a self-centering force acting deflecting the support member (12) to return to the substantially vertical orientation in the body of water.
