Adjustable porous structures and method for shoreline and land mass reclamation

Abstract

A method of recovering land causing the deposit and retention of particulate material entrained by a fluid flow by installation of a groyne including pillars (10 ', 10 ") holding screens (11', 11", 11 " ') liftable relative to the material deposited and wherein each screen has a plurality of openings therein through which flow the fluid and that make the particulate material entrained thereby is deposited outside the fluid flow but are sized to prevent the passage of solid material larger swept by currents of fluid, the method including installing a plurality of spaced-breakwaters each other, including each espigón a plurality of spaced pillars (10 '' 10 ") holding a plurality of screens (11 ', 11", 11 "') wherein each screen has upper (12) and lower (14) and opposite end portions (15), characterized the method by the steps of: a) placing a plurality of pairs of end stanchions (10 ', 10 ") in spaced each other; b) mounting adjustably separate (11 ', 11 ", 11"') screen in each pair of spaced end stanchions, holding the end portions of each screen on a pair of spaced end stanchions that do not hold another screen, so that between two adjacent screens are installed a pair of end stanchions and so that the bottom of the screens is retained adjacent a surface of existing solid material to thereby produce an accumulation of particulates newly deposited adjacent to the bottom thereof; c) retain the accumulation of newly deposited particulate materials by raising at least one of periodically and independently of the other screens, so that the bottom thereof is substantially maintained at the height of the newly deposited particulate materials screens.
