Preliminary performance of handover functions in telecommunications system

Abstract

A method for performing a transfer "handover" in a telecommunications system having a source base (BSS) station and a target base station (BSD), wherein a mobile station specified (MS) establishes a connection to the station home base, the method characterized by: upon receipt of a first measurement report from the mobile station specified, start at the base station target a preliminary part of a sequence of handover for the mobile station specified, the preliminary part of handover sequence includes synchronization uplink radio (12-7) with respect to the specified mobile station; and then, after receiving a second measurement report from the mobile station specified, start at the base station target another part of the handover sequence specified for the mobile station.
