Abstract

A method of connecting a modem power line (104), to an external network (116), comprising: receiving, by the modem power line (104), a plurality of packets directly transmitted from a plurality of devices adjacent, connected to power lines on a network of power lines; and characterized in that the method includes: selected using the modem power line (104), an access unit (108) to service the modem power line (104), as a gateway between the network of power lines and external network (116) different network on power lines, depending on the received packets from the plurality of adjacent devices.
