Multicast support in packet switched wireless networks

Method for establishing a multicast service in a packet network radio data comprising at least a gateway node (GGSN), at least one service node (SGSN) coupled to the gateway node, a plurality node radio access (RAN) coupled to node (SGSN), transporting the packet network by radio, data packets from an external network packet data to mobile stations (MS) connected wirelessly to access nodes radius (RAN), the method comprising the steps that: - a mobile station (MS) produces a message (1) to report multicast member to the gateway node (GGSN) indicating that the mobile station wishes to receive content of a specific multicast group (1); - The gateway node (GGSN) receives the message (1) and edit a message (2) context activation for multicast service node (SGSN) (2); - The service node (SGSN) notifies (5) to the mobile station, the access bearer and radio quality of service for the multicast session (5), characterized in that: - the service node (SGSN) informs ( 3) to the radio access network (RAN) that the mobile station is joining the respective multicast group (3); - If no longer exists (2b) a multicast group in the service node (SGSN), the serving node (SGSN) creates a context for the multicast group (2c) and adds (2d) the mobile station (MS) the context of the multicast group (MC); - The service node (SGSN) sends a response (4) context activation multicast to gateway node (GGSN) (4).
