Water blocking cable tape and methods for making same

A water blocking tape comprising: a first material layer; one or more water blocking compounds disposed on a surface of the first material layer; and a second layer of material disposed on the one or more compounds water blocking such that the compounds water blocking are disposed between the first layer and the second material layer, wherein the first layer and the second layer ultrasonically joined together along a drawing passing through a surface of at least a portion of the first layer and the second layer to contain and restrict the movement of one or more compounds water blocking between the first layer and the second cap.
