Method and apparatus for reducing transmission errors in a third generation cellular system

A method for detecting and correcting transmission errors in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: (a) sending (40) a transmission signal to a destination; (B) generating a Revert Message to indicate whether the transmission signal was successfully received at the destination, including the Revert Message or an ACK message for admission to indicate successful reception or a message of non-admission, NACK, for not indicate successful reception, (c) insert an ACK or NACK message in the first field of the Revert message; (D) inserting a value of channel quality identifier, CQI, in a second field of the Revert Message; (E) transmitting the Revert Message; characterized in that the method further comprises: (f) generating (445) an error message in response to receipt of the Revert Message transmitted, if the Revert Message includes an ACK message in the first field and the value CQI lowest in the second field, or if the Revert message includes a NACK message in the first field and the highest possible CQI value in the second field.
