Elastomeric composition

Abstract

The invention relates to an elastomeric composition comprising a halogenated rubber component, a filler such as carbon black and a polybutene processing oil, wherein the processing oil has a mean particle weight of at least 400 in one embodiment and up to 10,000 in one embodiment. The rubber component may be halogenated butyl rubber or halogenated star-branched butyl rubber. In one embodiment, the polybutene processing oil is comprised between 2% and 30% by weight, while the halogenated rubber component is in the range of 50 to 100% by weight and the filler is in the range of 10 to 150% by weight of the composition. In addition, a secondary rubber component such as a natural rubber may be present in the composition.
