Boron carbide based ceramic matrix composites

Abstract

The present invention is a composite material and its process. The above-mentioned material is mainly first coated with element-like carbon, and contains at least one sort of ceramic materials which do not react to silicon next, for example, boron carbide, and the fiber structure which came out and was mainly coated. Furthermore, the above-mentioned composite material contains the continuous silicon matrix which mainly includes the above-mentioned fiber structure which was mainly first coated with element-like carbon and then was mainly coated with at least one sort of ceramic materials. As for the above-mentioned matrix, a size mainly has a particulate crystal structure of 20 microns or less. At least one above-mentioned sort of ceramic materials are discontinuous within the above-mentioned matrix. When the above-mentioned composite material fractures the above-mentioned fiber structure, it draws out the above-mentioned element-like carbon which mainly coats the above-mentioned fiber structure first.
