Granule based on calcium phosphate, wherein the crystalline calcium phosphate is embedded in a matrix of silicon-xerogel dioxide, which is obtainable by manufacturing the calcium phosphate via a precipitation reaction, wherein the solution with phosphate precipitated calcium is homogenized by stirring, a solution of highly concentrated silicic acid is added, the mixture is set by gel formation which is then started and becomes, by removal of the solvent, in a xerogel matrix presenting the crystallites of calcium phosphate is in the xerogel matrix a size of about 10 nm to about 2000 nm and the pellets a size of 1 mum to 1000 mum and the portion of silicon dioxide being in the range between 2 and 80% by weight, preferably in the range between 4 and 50% by weight, based on the total mass of the pellets.
