Apparatus for processing waste with distribution/mixing chamber for oxidising fluid and corresponding method

An apparatus for treating waste having a substantially longitudinal chamber waste treatment (10) adapted to receive a column (35) of waste, wherein said processing chamber comprises an upper part (14) of camera attached to a portion lower (200) chamber via a transition therebetween, said upper inlet means waste (20) part comprising and at least one outlet means gases comprising said lower part at least means torch ( 40) of plasma having an output end thereof extending into said lower part for providing sufficient heat at least for enabling the housed therein organic waste becomes fuel gases, the apparatus being characterized that said transition comprises a change in slope of the inner profile of the processing chamber between said top (14) and said lower part taken along a longitudinal direction, so that at least a part of the inner wall said lower part is displaced transversely outwardly from said transition along the periphery thereof with respect to the inner wall of said upper part thus forming additional peripheral space in the lower part with respect to the top of the chamber, serving said peripheral space as at least one distribution chamber and mixing oxidizing fluid (300), said distribution chamber and mixing oxidizing fluid at least one inlet (75) of oxidising fluid to provide oxidising fluid thereto from a suitable source, being that located at least one oxidising fluid inlet at a position where the internal cross section of said lower part at said position is substantially greater than the internal cross section of said upper part at least just above said transition.
