High barrier closure liner with oxygen absorbing capabilities

A multilayer liner for a container closure, said container closure being a cap for a container and having said disposed layer liner therein so as to cover the opening of said container when said cap is placed thereabove, said multi - layer liner comprising: a first skin layer formed of a first polymeric material, said first polymeric material being permeable to gas; a barrier layer formed by gas a second polymeric material, said second polymeric material having a low gas permeability; a honeycomb layer formed of a third polymeric material, said third foamed polymeric material being permeable to gas and a second surface layer formed of a fourth polymeric material, said fourth polymeric material being permeable to gas, wherein said first surface layer, said barrier layer of gas, said foam layer and said second skin layer are coextruded with each other, and wherein said first skin layer is on one side of said layer of gas barrier, said foam layer is on the other side said layer of gas barrier, and said second skin layer is on the other of said foam layer from said permeable layer gas, which in use, said first surface layer is in contact with said cap, and said second layer surface separates and protects said foam layer from direct contact with a product in said container and said gas barrier layer prevents gas outside said container reaches said foam layer.
