Method of inhibiting amyloid protein aggregation and imaging amyloid deposits using aminoidane derivatives

A compound of Formula I wherein: R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, C1-C8alkyl, C2-C8, C2-C8, phenyl (CH2) not substituted phenyl (CH2) n, where one of R1 and R2 is different from hydrogen; R4 and R5 are independently hydrogen, halo, C-C8 alkyl, C2-C8, C2-C8, phenyl (CH2) not substituted phenyl (CH2) n, NO2, CN, CF3, C1-C8, CO2R6, tetrazolyl , NH (C1-C8), N (alkyl C-C8) 2 or SO2R6, R3 is hydrogen or C1-C8 alkyl; R6 is hydrogen, C1-C8 alkyl, phenyl (CH2) not substituted phenyl (CH2) n; n is an integer from 0 to 4 inclusive; or a salt, pharmaceutically acceptable ester or amide thereof.
