Quinones for treatment of diseases

The invention provides novel quinone compounds and methods for use of the quinone compounds in treating diseases. The invention comprises compounds of formula: wherein M is selected from the group consisting of -O-, -C (= O) -O-, -O- (C = O) -, -C (= O) -N- And -N- (C = O) -. The invention also comprises the above compounds combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The invention also comprises the use of the above compounds to treat an indication characterized by the proliferation of diseased cells in an individual, comprising administering to the individual a therapeutic amount of one or more of the above compounds, optionally together with another compound or compounds therapeutically effective. The invention also includes all salts, stereoisomers and tautomers of the foregoing compounds, unless explicitly stated otherwise. In another embodiment, the invention comprises one or more, optionally combined with another therapeutic compound, combined with above compounds pharmaceutically acceptable excipient or vehicle. The invention also provides methods for treating an indication, comprising the step of administering to the individual an effective amount of a composition comprising a new quinone.
