Implant for disposition between vertebrae of the spinal column, with two branches (12, 13) joined together at one end, which can be applied to one of the vertebrae, respectively, converging in the starting position for distraction outer sides of branches oriented vertebrae and, at least in sections, the inner sides thereof towards the free ends of the branches, and a ready expandable element between the branches for the expansion of the branches (12, 13), characterized in that the expansible element is made as a pin (19) which can perform only a translational motion, supporting the branches (12, 13) in the expanded state along their entire horizontal width.
