Local information reproduction on matching of a geographical selection parameter

A method for providing an information unit to a user will be described, wherein the information unit describes an object that stands in a predetermined spatial relationship to the user. The method comprises detecting a type of motion or position of the user. Depending on the detected type of movement or the user's location, a geographic selection criterion is set, the geographic selection criterion indicating a function of the predetermined spatial relationship of the object to the user whether the information unit is provided or not. If a location of the user is disposed to a geographical position of the user such that the geographic selection criterion is met, the information unit for the object is reproduced. One advantage is that the concept can be used in applications in which the user gets into different environments and situations, which in turn require different geographic selection criteria required.
