Surgical stapling instrument

surgical stapling instrument edges or folds of tissue (56, 58; 70, 72) to be joined, the instrument comprising a body (10) elongated, rigid member (12) carried by the body and having one end (12b, 12c ) hook shaped for penetrating the edges or folds of tissue to be joined, and means (32, 38, 40) for stapling to apply a staple (36) on the edges or folds held by the shaped end hook rigid member, wherein the means for clipping comprises means (40) for driving a staple against the inside of the end hook-shaped rigid member for deformation of the clip which is inserted and joined with the edges, characterized fact that the rigid member having a cross section generally C-shaped defining a channel (52) along the inside of the rigid member except at a base section (12b) curved thereof section having curved base a protuberance anvil (54) for deformation of the staple.
