Extension and locking assembly for dripless filter element and container therefor

A filter system (30) including a filter element (36) and a housing body filter (32), said filter element (36) filtering means (120) ring-shaped, a first cap end (114) sealingly attached to a first end of filter medium (120); and a second end cap (122) sealingly attached to a second end of the filter medium (120); including the second end cap (122) having an opening (124) located along the central axis of the filter element (36), and also including the first endcap an opening (128) located along the central axis of filter element (36), so that said central opening (128) of said first end cap (114) has a smaller diameter than said central opening (124) of said second end cap (122) being defined said central opening of said first end cap by an annular flange (130), integral with said first end cap (114) and projecting axially inward a short distance from said first end cap and toward said second cover end (114), and terminates at a point closer to said first end cap (114) to said second end cap (122), said flange being annular (130) spaced radially inwardly from the annulus medium filtered; and a series of distinct elongated protrusions (116) which are integral with said first end cap (114) and spaced radially outwardly relative to said annular flange (130) between said flange (130) and said ring filtering means (120), said protrusions protruding (116) axially inwardly a short distance from said first end cap (114) toward said second end cap (122).
